Honda Elevate Facelift and 0 Alpha EV Set to Strengthen Honda’s SUV Lineup
Honda Cars India is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with two important new models as the company looks to boost sales in the Indian market
The automaker is expected to introduce the updated Elevate facelift along with its first electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept. Both models have already been spotted testing on Indian roads, suggesting that their launches are getting closer
Honda Elevate Facelift
The Honda Elevate, which was launched in September 2023, is now expected to receive its first major update. The facelift is likely to bring noticeable changes to the exterior and cabin while keeping the existing powertrain options
The updated SUV could feature a redesigned front grille, refreshed headlamps, updated bumpers and revised taillamps. These changes are expected to give the Elevate a more modern appearance and help it compete more strongly in the midsize SUV segment
Inside the cabin, Honda is expected to introduce a revised interior theme along with additional equipment. Features such as ventilated front seats and a 360 degree surround view camera could be added to improve comfort and convenience
The existing 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi digital instrument cluster and camera based ADAS technology are expected to continue on the facelifted model
Under the hood, the Honda Elevate facelift is likely to retain the current 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces around 121hp and is expected to remain available with a 6 speed manual gearbox or CVT automatic transmission
Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV
Honda is also preparing to enter India’s growing electric SUV market with the production version of its 0 Alpha concept. The new electric SUV is expected to arrive in India by March 2027 and could make its public debut around the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo
The 0 Alpha EV has already been seen undergoing testing across different road conditions in India. Production is expected to take place at Honda’s Tapukara manufacturing facility in Rajasthan
The production version is expected to retain much of the concept’s overall design language while receiving the necessary changes for mass production. Honda has confirmed that the electric SUV will feature a wheelbase of approximately 2700mm to 2800mm
With its size and positioning, the Honda 0 Alpha EV is expected to compete with upcoming electric SUVs such as the Tata Sierra EV, VinFast VF 6 and Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq
Honda’s Upcoming SUV Strategy
The Elevate facelift and 0 Alpha EV could play an important role in Honda’s plans to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive SUV market
