4 Confirmed New Car Launches Coming by September 2026

The Indian automotive market is set for an exciting few weeks with several new and updated cars scheduled to arrive soon

From the refreshed Škoda Slavia to MG’s upcoming electric SUV and the much-awaited Kia Sorento, buyers will have plenty of new options to look forward to

Here are the four major car launches expected between August and the first week of September 2026

Škoda Slavia Facelift — August 18

Škoda is preparing to introduce the updated Slavia on August 18, 2026, bringing a series of styling and feature upgrades to its popular sedan

The facelift is expected to receive a redesigned front section with updated headlights, revised fog lamp housings, a sharper bumper and a refreshed grille featuring integrated lighting elements

The cabin is likely to retain the existing dashboard design, although several new features could make the interior feel more premium

The updated Slavia is expected to get a larger 10 25 inch digital driver display along with fresh seat upholstery and additional convenience features

Like the updated Kushaq, the Slavia facelift could also receive features such as rear seat massage functionality and front parking sensors

The engine lineup is expected to remain familiar with the 115hp 1 0 litre TSI and 150hp 1 5 litre turbo petrol engines

One of the major changes could be the transmission setup, with the 1 0 litre TSI expected to receive an 8 speed automatic gearbox instead of the existing 6 speed automatic unit

MG Hector Tomahawk EV — August 26

JSW MG Motor India is scheduled to unveil the new Hector Tomahawk SUV on August 26, 2026

The upcoming model will be significant for MG as it is expected to become the first vehicle based on the company’s new ADAPT architecture

This platform has been designed to support different types of powertrains including hybrid, plug in hybrid, electric and range extender technology

The Hector Tomahawk is expected to launch initially as an electric SUV, while a plug in hybrid version could be introduced later

Power is expected to come from a 69 2kWh battery pack connected to a front mounted electric motor

The motor is claimed to produce around 201hp and 310Nm of torque, while the SUV could deliver a driving range of up to 530km on a full charge

With its electric powertrain, spacious SUV body and new platform, the Hector Tomahawk could become an important addition to MG’s growing electric vehicle lineup

Kia Sorento — September 4

Kia is expected to enter the hybrid vehicle segment in India with the new three row Sorento, scheduled for launch on September 4, 2026

The Sorento will be positioned as a premium seven seater SUV and is expected to compete with models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Škoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian

The biggest highlight could be its hybrid powertrain

The SUV is expected to use a 1 6 litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor, offering improved fuel efficiency and smoother performance in everyday driving

A diesel engine is also reportedly being considered, with the 2 2 litre CRDi turbo diesel unit expected to be paired with an 8 speed dual clutch automatic transmission

The Sorento could also feature an all wheel drive system along with multiple terrain modes designed for different road conditions

Snow, Mud and Sand driving modes are expected to make the SUV more capable when driving beyond regular city roads

Maruti Baleno Facelift — September 5

Maruti Suzuki is also preparing an update for the popular Baleno premium hatchback, with the facelift expected to arrive on September 5, 2026

The refreshed Baleno is expected to receive several exterior changes including an updated front design, new alloy wheels and revised taillights

The interior could also receive a technology upgrade with a larger 10 1 inch touchscreen infotainment system

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are expected to be among the key convenience features

Despite the design and equipment updates, the engine is expected to remain the familiar 1 2 litre naturally aspirated petrol unit producing around 88hp

Transmission choices are likely to include a 5 speed manual and an AMT option
