 Mercedes-Benz Introduces New GLB and All-Electric GLC in Ireland

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its presence in the Irish market with the arrival of two new SUVs, the latest GLB and the all-electric GLC

The new models bring together premium styling, advanced technology, improved practicality and modern electric powertrains, giving customers more choice in the luxury SUV segment

The new GLB is aimed strongly at families and is offered with both fully electric and petrol-hybrid powertrains, while the new GLC arrives as a fully electric SUV alongside the existing petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions

According to Mercedes-Benz Ireland, both models represent an important step forward in terms of design, technology, comfort and safety

New Mercedes-Benz GLB

The latest Mercedes-Benz GLB has been developed with additional space and greater flexibility in mind

Compared with its predecessor, the new GLB is longer and wider, while its slightly lower roofline gives it a more modern appearance without sacrificing interior practicality

The SUV continues to focus on family usability, with an adjustable second row that allows owners to create more room for passengers or luggage depending on their needs

The seven-seat configuration further increases its versatility, making the GLB suitable for larger families

The luggage compartment provides up to 540 litres of capacity, or 480 litres depending on the seating configuration, while folding the rear seats increases available space to as much as 1,715 litres

Electric versions also feature a 127-litre front storage compartment, commonly known as a frunk

Mercedes-Benz has also improved the cabin with more comfortable seating, vegan upholstery and easier access to the rear seats

Safety remains a major focus, with five ISOFIX mounting points and support for child seats across the rear seating area, including third-row compatibility

The exterior features an illuminated Mercedes star at the front, adding a distinctive premium touch

The electric GLB lineup includes four variants with driving ranges reaching as high as 624km depending on the version

The GLB 200 uses a 58kWh battery and offers a WLTP range of up to 425km

The GLB 250 comes with a 71kWh battery and can travel up to 521km on a single charge

The GLB 250+ gets a larger 85kWh battery and delivers the longest claimed range in the lineup at up to 624km

The range-topping GLB 350 4MATIC uses an 85kWh battery and offers up to 607km of range while also providing all-wheel drive

Mercedes-Benz says the electric GLB models can charge from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes

Mercedes-Benz GLB Hybrid Models

Customers who are not ready to move completely to electric power can choose from five petrol-hybrid GLB variants

The lineup includes the GLB 180, GLB 200, GLB 200 4MATIC, GLB 220 and GLB 220 4MATIC

Power outputs include 136bhp and 200Nm in the GLB 180, while the GLB 200 produces 163bhp and 250Nm

The GLB 220 develops 190bhp and 300Nm, with the 4MATIC versions offering additional all-wheel-drive capability

The new GLB range starts from €59,355 in Ireland

New Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric SUV

The second major arrival is the new all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC, one of the brand’s most important global SUV models

The electric GLC introduces a completely updated exterior design that Mercedes-Benz says will influence the styling of future models

Its redesigned chrome grille, smoother body shape and more prominent wheel arches give the SUV a more distinctive road presence

The new electric version will be sold alongside the existing GLC range, which continues to offer petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains in the Irish market

Inside, the new GLC introduces the fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system

The system incorporates Microsoft and Google AI technologies and works with Mercedes-Benz’s Superscreen setup to provide a more advanced digital experience

The cabin also features a panoramic glass roof, memory seats and a comprehensive collection of driver assistance technologies

Multiple cameras and sensors help support the vehicle’s safety and parking functions

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Range and Charging

The new electric GLC is available in three main versions

The GLC 250 features an 85kWh battery and offers a claimed range of up to 638km

The GLC 300 4MATIC adds four-wheel drive and provides up to 606km of range

At the top of the lineup is the GLC 400 4MATIC, which gets a larger 94kWh battery and offers a maximum range of up to 664km

All versions use Mercedes-Benz’s 800-volt electrical architecture

The company says the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes

Mercedes-Benz also claims that more than 300km of additional driving range can be added in around 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions

Official energy consumption is rated at approximately 14 9kWh per 100km
